If you don’t know him by name, you know his gorgeous black and white photographs of mountain tops and scenic valleys. Ansel Adams would climb through the national parks and wild lands of the American west in search of the next perfectly magnificent photo. After studying his mountain subject from nearly every angle, he was known to camp out on the side of a valley, set up his cameras and wait. He would wait for the perfect light, the very best angle, the most stunning way to fully, beautifully capture something that is nearly impossible to photograph in all its glory.
The Mass is even more majestic than a mountain. The Mass is deeper than any American valley or gorge. If it is nearly impossible to photograph a mountain’s grandeur, how much harder is it to describe the glory of God in the Mass.
This Lent at HNOJ, we have our own Ansel Adams. Instead of photographing a mountain, Dr. Ed Sri has studied, dived deep, walked all around and camped out in the midst of our most Holy Liturgy. He knows the ins and outs, the roots found in scripture and the joy of closeness with the God of the Universe.
Like an Ansel Adams photograph, Dr. Sri is going to capture the beauty, majesty and glory of the Mass and help us to see the Mass as it really is - Heaven on Earth.
To attend his two talks about the Mass is to catch, for a moment, a glimpse of the tremendous, glorious gift of the Mass. If you come and hear him speak, your experience with the Mass will never be the same.
HNOJ is excited to announce we will be hosting a Lenten Parish Mission on March 26 and 27 with Dr. Ed Sri. Both talks will be held in the Main Church from 6:30-8:30 p.m. with nursery age childcare available. There will be refreshments after in the Good Samaritan Center.
Dr. Edward Sri is a theologian, author and well-known Catholic speaker who presents to tens of thousands of people from around the world each year, including clergy, parish leaders, catechists and laity. He is a founding leader with Curtis Martin of FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students), where he currently serves as Sr. Vice President of Apostolic Outreach. He holds a doctorate from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome and is an adjunct professor at the Augustine Institute. He and his wife, Elizabeth, reside in Littleton, Colorado. They are blessed with eight children and one grandchild.
Mark your calendars now and invite your friends to this exciting opportunity to grow in faith this Lent. Please RSVP so we can get a count for hospitality and childcare.
